Subject: LINUX-SIG Notes from October 12th

See attached Notes   Not too pleased with my effort.  I had some Linux troubles

Ubuntu 11.10 is available and I have Ubuntu & Lubuntu on both my desktop and my LapTop machines.  I chose an upgrade for both on my LapTop and although it took several hours for each, it did work smoothly.  I do miss the option of Classic-Ubuntu with Gnome instead of their Unity Desktop, but it can be learned I guess.

One my Desktop, the upgrade crashed and left a mess.  Perhaps I had added too many extra applications?  I downloaded and creating a bootable USB failed.  Next I used Unetbootin and it created a USB, but after 3 tries, about half-way thru the install it would fail.  Next I tried a CD-ROM and on the 3rd try finally it seemed to finish a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 on my desktop.  But when I tried to boot to it, It crashed.  I still do NOT have Ubuntu 11.10 running on my desktop.  I have switched to Fedora and am slightly less enamored of Ubuntu.
